De La Hoya VS Pacquiao is Official!

The fight is finally official ladies and gentlemen. Olympic gold medalist Former World Champion "The Golden Boy" OSCAR DE LA HOYA will face current Ring Magazine No. 1-ranked pound for pound boxer MANNY "Pacman" PACQUIAO on December 6 (Dec 7, Philippine Time) at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Co-presented by Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) and Top Rank, Inc., the bout will be a a 12-round, non-title fight contested at the 147-pound or the welterweight limit.

Here is the story behind the fight and what led to it.

The notion of the fight began in October 2007 merely as a fantasy in the fertile mind of HBO broadcaster Larry Merchant. He mentioned it in one of HBO's broadcasts and what do you know, its now a reality. We will get to see two PPV Giants slug it out inside the ring. Though there were or are a lot of controversies concerning the fight, the show will still go on!
