Pacman-Floyd fight certain, says lawyer

MANILA, Philippines — There is still not a deal in place for the proposed May 2012 collision course between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather but the Filipino fighter’s lawyer remains upbeat that both parties are going to reach an agreement. In the words of Pacquiao lawyer Franklin Gacal, the planets appear to be aligning. “Mayweather is on our radar screen,” said Gacal. “As long as there is no computer glitch (the fight will happen).” Pacquiao himself said he wants Mayweather for his first fight in 2012 although he is not running away from Juan Manuel Marquez’s bold challenge after the Mexican pushed him to the limit in their third fight last Nov. 12 in Las Vegas. Several of Pacquiao’s allies have also voiced out the same opinion with Cebu promoter Wakee Salud going to the extent of saying the fight is “80 percent done” and ex-world champion Gerry Penalosa stressing that “issues are being ironed out.” Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum is also nursing hopes that a deal will be reached soon to prove that he also wants to see the fight happen. Arum said that in case an agreement is made, “everybody will be going over the moon” because of the magnitude of the fight. Even if the fight is going to be held in the US, the promoters and the fighters will travel the world to hype the duel many have dubbed as “Fight of the Century.” Pacquiao and Mayweather are considered the very best in the world and the only way to determine who is truly No. 1 is to let them face off in the ring.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr. will not be similar to Pacquiao vs. Marquez

Since Manny Pacquiao’s third controversial fight against Juan Manuel Marquez a few weeks ago, the media has been going wild. People are convinced that Pacquiao’s performance against Marquez is a tell of how he would most likely perform against Mayweather Jr. I clearly understand why boxing fans come to such notion, but in reality it’s a false perceptive. Folks out there assume that since Pacquiao had evident trouble with Marquez’s counter punching, he will also suffer a similar fate against Mayweather Jr. I think this will not be the case. The difference between Mayweather Jr. and Marquez, is that while Mayweather Jr. is an opportunist, punching whenever he feels and sees an opportunity to hit without being hit, Marquez is a volume counter puncher, hitting back no matter what the response might be. Pacquiao is defensively limited, thus was getting hit with most of Marquez’s counters. He is also like Marquez, wanting to throw higher volume. In essence, both Marquez and Pacquiao like to let their hands go; Pacquiao more aggressive and Marquez more defensive. Mayweather’s volume will likely come short, and will not work in the same fashion as Marquez’s. Mayweather will have to look for opportunities, and there won’t be too many of them. One thing both Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao can do well, is move on their feet. This attribute alone will cut out a significant number of landed shots, possibly making it a more boring fight than some expect it to be. By this I am in no way implying that Marquez has bad footwork, he simply didn’t need to use most of it when fighting Pacquiao. In my personal opinion, Mayweather Jr. will win his fight against Pacquiao, via a UD taking most if not all of the rounds. Still, the fight will not look similar in any way to that of Pacquaio’s fight against Marquez. Pacquiao will be hitting his opponent much less, vice versa. But in reality, only one way to fine out…

Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Is It Really Going To Happen?

There are those who believe that Floyd Mayweather has called out Manny Pacquiao for 5th May, but I say this: So Floyd Mayweather has “agreed” to fight Manny Pacquiao, but on what conditions? My guess is that he will insist on USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) testing, as opposed to WADA (World Anti Doping Agency) testing, and then he will say that the USADA does not have reps in the Philippines, and cannot fly to the Philippines every now and then re: drug testing, thereby implying that Manny should train exclusively in the USA. Manny Pacquiao should agree, subject to Floyd training exclusively in the Philippines! Also, is Floyd Mayweather agreeable to a 50-50 split? In addition, does Manny have to drop the lawsuit? When Floyd mentioned the possibility of the 5th of May, and many of my friends mentioned this in excitement, I said, “5th May of which year…2016 or 2020 or sometime later? My suggestion: Don’t get excited about the prospect of a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. As for who is the better fighter, we will never know. What we do know is that Floyd has better all-round skills. Then again, many fighters of the past had better all-round skills than their opponents and still lost…

Pacquiao vs Mayweather not 50/50, Floyd insists

We've heard from a local newspaper from the Phils. that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is asking more than a 50/50 split in the fight purse.

Pacquiao already commented on the issue in an interview in the Phils. He said that there is no way he will be fighting Floyd if ever the purse split is lower than 50/50. Pacquiao has made himself clear on this and he said that he will stand by his decision no matter what.

“If it’s going to be a 50/50 split, the fight will definitely push through,” said in an interview to local newspaper the Freeman... then he added, “Right now, it’s not year clear. He’s afraid to fight me.”

Pacquiao also said now that Floyd's camp is asking for a 60/40 split in favor of them.

Do you think this fight deserves a 60/40 split for Mayweather? or is this just another stunt to get negotiations to fail? Share your thoughts guys.

Update: Pacquiao vs Clottey Live Stream Links

Update: Link 3 is now back up! Watch the live stream again. ^_^

Update: As you can see, a working Pacquiao vs Clottey live stream is really hard to find. Top Rank, Pacquiao's Promoter seems to have covered all the live stream channels and their blocking it off. This is very unfortunate for people who can't afford the PPV but I won't give up. We will have the live stream here in just awhile. One way or another, we'll get to see this fight.

Update: (another one) I found another stream, Watch Pacquiao vs Clottey PACQUIAO VS CLOTTEY LINK 3. It's working as of this update.

Update: (1 hour before main event) Guys, Top Rank has really been doing a great job in blocking the live stream of this match. All SopCast channels are down so I couldn't give them to you. I only have the stream below. It requires you to register to a forum. It's the best I could find for now but I'm still looking for a better stream. Please stay tuned for more updates.

If you can't wait, please use the 2nd link below. I am also watching the fight using that link.

The Pacquiao vs Clottey live streams have been jam-packed and its hard to get a very nice one. We are still looking for a stable stream so I hope this would suffice for now.

PACQUIAO VS CLOTTEY LIVE STREAM LINK 1 (removed because its not longer working. I would suggest using pacquiao vs clottey live stream link 2 below. It requires registration to their site but I also went through the whole process and it was really worth the time. I'm getting a 100% fast working stream now.

updates will be posted later.

Edit:
I found a very very good stream but it requires you to make an account on their forums. I tried making an account and I can tell you, it was worth the time.

PACQUIAO VS CLOTTEY LIVE STREAM LINK 2(BETTER QUALITY but you need to register to their forums.

Update: The first link is already not working. I would suggest using the second link as its 100% working. You will just need to register to the site thats streaming the fight.

I am still looking for a new one as of this writing. The main-event has not yet started, It's still Castillo vs Gomez so there is still time to look for a better stream.

Clottey No Chance Against Pacquiao - Roach

During an interview with a well-know boxing website, Freddie Roach the mentor of Manny Pacquiao said that Clottey will have no chance against Pacquiao. This is a bold statement because when you look at the Pacquiao vs Clottey match in paper, you could see that Clottey has significant advantage in size and the fact that Clottey has fought in this weight many times before while this is Pacqiuao's 2nd match at official 147.

We'll see come fight night if what Freddie Roach said will come true.

Tim Smith Not in Pacquiao vs Clottey Presser!

The man who reported about the 'Pacquiao Guilty email' did not bother on going to the press conference for the Pacquiao vs Clottey fight. It makes you think doesn't it? If this guys is an avid follower of Boxing because he has made sensitive reports about its biggest star then he should be on the presser for the biggest boxing match so far this year.

Does this show his real colors? Does this affect his credibility as a boxing reporter? I leave it to you guys for answers. ^_^

Pacquiao VS Clottey is ON!

The Pacquiao-Mayweather debacle is now over! as of this writing, Manny Pacquiao will fight Joshua Clottey instead in the 147 lb division. Manny Pacquiao will be fighting his second 147 fight. (first was against Oscar De La Hoya) There will be no catchweight for this match even though there is an obvious size advantage for Clottey.

The match will be held at the amazing Cowboys' Stadium in Texas. This will be the first ever Boxing match held in the said venue.

Manny Pacquiao is now going to start training for the match and I would assume that Joshua Clottey is doing the same. The official press tour will be kicked off in New Year some time this week.

Lets wish both combatants the best of luck!

Pacquiao No Anger Going into De La Hoya Fight

Manny Pacquiao and Oscar de La Hoya aren't actually what you call friends. There have been issues in the past. Did you remember Pacquiao signing a contract with Golden Boy then eventually signed another contract with Top Rank!

If you do, then you can say that there is bad blood in this fight but Pacquiao just recently said that there will be no anger between both fighters when they enter this fight.

I guess you can see that Pacquiao and De la Hoya both respect each other as a fighter.

De La Hoya Gives Pacquiao 5 Rounds!

Did you hear the latest news about the De La Hoya camp giving Manny Pacquiao just 5 rounds to last in their upcoming fight come Dec 6. (Dec 7 in RP). I don't know whether they said this just to shake things up but that could probably be an accurate prediction when you consider how Oscar de la Hoya has been training in the Big Bear.

I sure hope they are wrong! Pacquiao can still win this!
